Olivia van Trigt’s sculptures express a deep admiration for organic structures. Combining these natural forms with recognisable figurative and abstract elements, she creates an idiosyncratic, alienating imagination. Movement and time are central players there.
In her work, she fuses personal memories with references to art history and everyday life. In this way, she draws our attention to the fact that the world of which we are a part is in constant motion. At the same time, the open structures of her images invite us to discover with new eyes how form and emptiness alternate and complement each other.
